What do you think about this week’s discussion? We have talked about how important it is to study the Bible and one way to understand it is to study its context before its content.
The book of 2 Timothy in Chapter 3 verse 16 talks about the scripture is profitable also for reproof and correction. Reproof which is an expression of disagreement and correct which is the process to set things right.
Part of God’s love for us is to discipline and correct us.
Proverbs 3:11-12, ESVMy son, do not despise the Lord’s disciplineor be weary of his reproof, for the Lord reproves him whom he loves,as a father the son in whom he delights.
So, you already know why God disciplines us and correct us–because he deeply loves us! And we can also experience this love from others when they lead us to the truth by correcting us.
It’s easy to get hurt when we can’t accept that our beliefs and values are wrong but it takes humility to transform our hearts. My prayer for you is that you will not go weary by being corrected–and as you correct others may you correct them according to what the word of God says. Remember to do it with love and mercy
